OUR STORY Started at the URBN Home Office — a cornerstone of Philadelphia’s historic Navy Yard — with our first concept, Shop 543. With a view overlooking old carrier ships on the Delaware River, Shop 543, is a culinary hub for both URBN employees and the public.

Our next eatery, Terrain Cafe, was an unexpected success that grew from a unique retail concept opened by URBN in 2008. terrain began with its flagship location in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania opened on the site of the historic J. Franklin Styer’s Nursery. It was here that Terrain Cafe grew naturally from a small cafe nestled in the store serving coffees and small bites, to a full service restaurant serving brunch and dinner services.

Captivated by the bustling Philadelphia food scene, URBN expanded their food and beverage presence with the acquisition of The Vetri Family Restaurant Group in 2015, which included an array of Italian restaurant concepts founded by Marc Vetri and partners. The portfolio included Italian trattoria, Amis, creatively reimagined neighborhood pizza joint, Pizzeria Vetri, Italian wood-fired rotisserie, Lo Spiedo (later re-conceptualized as Gatehouse, a new-American casual spot with a beer garden) and more.

Following URBN’s split from the Vetri Family founders, we rebranded our division as Menus & Venues. Under this moniker, we continue to foster the growth of key restaurant concepts in the group including, Pizzeria Vetri, Amis, and Terrain Cafe. In addition to restaurants, the Terrain Events business includes two stunning event venues in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Terrain at Styer’s and Terrain Gardens. Outside of Philadephia, we own and operate concepts in California, Connecticut, and Maryland.
