In partnership with Girls Inc., Free People has developed a charity-driven social campaign in celebration of the individuality, creativity, ambition and spirit of women. Through December, the brand will highlight inspiring females who are making their communities a better place for girls and women everywhere, and in turn, empowering them to succeed.
Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, providing more than 140,000 girls across the U.S. and Canada with life-changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. The Girls Inc. experience consists of people, an environment, and programming that, together, empower girls to succeed. Staff members and volunteers build lasting, mentoring relationships in girls-only spaces that are physically and emotionally safe and where girls find a sisterhood of support with shared drive, mutual respect and high expectations. Hands-on programs provide girls with the skills and knowledge to set goals, overcome obstacles and improve academic performance. Girls Inc. also works with policymakers to advocate for legislation and initiatives that increase opportunities for girls.
Since April, @freepeople is highlighting several women each month that they feel best embody the Girls Inc. mission across their social channels. Using the hashtag #FPGirls, Free People sends the collaborator Free People product, in which she will capture a candid selfie. In addition, Free People will provide a donation in the contributor's name.
And, now through December, any customer who skips or reuses a cloth Free People bag, the brand will donate $0.25 from the transaction to Girls Inc.
