RESPONSIBLE SOURCING We are committed to making supplier decisions with social and environmental factors in mind. Overall, we put the customer at the center of all of our supplier relationship decisions. We follow high ethical and legal standards and work with vendors and suppliers who share our commitment. URBN is adamant about protecting the safety, freedom and rights of those who produce the goods sold in our stores and through our wholesale business. We work with vendors worldwide to distribute and manufacture our apparel and also encourage our vendors to partner closely with our designers and merchants.
Our mission is to create and incite meaningful change in the front-end of our own brand supply chain, from start to finish, to make URBN and all its subsidiaries more environmentally sustainable and socially conscious. We are actively sourcing recycled textiles and working them into garments. Currently, 50% of our direct sourced fabrics come from mills that abide by the OEKO-Tex 100 standard.
We source 79% of our direct-sourced viscose from responsible and sustainable sources such as Lenzing and recycled options.
We source 93% of our linen from EU Flax Linen, certified by Bureau Veritas, which is organic, non-gmo, and sustainably sourced.
All brands are committed to using responsibly sourced cotton in all of our direct sourced products, such as BCI, US Cotton, or recycled cotton. US cotton is 100% traceable to the farm, and we work with specific companies to ensure the traceability of our recycled cotton. Cotton represents over 30% of URBN’s direct-sourced fabric portfolio
Our direct-sourced denim is made from US cotton and re-cycled cotton.
