As our company continues to grow, so do our recycling programs. At our Navy Yard campus, we recycle paper, cardboard, plastics 1-7, and have collection points for cell phones and batteries. We also work with our office supply company to recycle toner cartridges. And, and as of January 2018, the amount of toner we recycled for that year alone was equivalent to reducing CO2 emissions from 404.55 gallons of gasoline and 8.39 barrels of oil. Additionally, our Shop 543 Café and Jharoka Coffee Shop compost approximately .64 tons a week.
As online shopping continues to increase, it important to us to be as green as possible with our packing and recycling methods. In 2014 alone, our fulfillment centers recycled more than 3,300,000 lbs.
Each of our stores recycle, either through separate container, Waste Management’s single stream program or other municipal entities. Additionally, we have a program for disposing lamps through Capital Lighting/Waste Management in California and Washington. Since January 2015, we recycled approximately 730.5 tons.
