Coco Chanel said “fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” Chanel’s quote reflects a deeply embedded passion that people have for the industry — which might be especially true for Millennials, who crave authenticity as well as belonging to something larger than themselves.
A recent Women's Wear Daily (WWD) survey was conducted to answer a simple question: What is the most desired company to work for in fashion? The survey was comprised of two separate polls: one through WWD’s social media networks that garnered more than 2,000 responses and the other by more than 400 students in leading fashion and merchandising schools in the U.S. and Europe. More than 200 companies, brands and designers were cited along with their responses. Urban Outfitters Inc. (URBN) was named among the top 25.
"We want someone who’s curious and asks questions, and wants to learn and swim against the tide. Humility is important. Everyone leaves their titles at the door,” said Matt Strode, Chief Talent Officer, URBN, who was was interviewed about the survey results.
